New Blog Welcome: BSG Care Homes Research Special Interest Group
Welcome! This is our first blog for the British Society of Gerontology (BSG) Care Homes Research Special Interest Group (SIG). So, we will recap who we are and what we do.
This group brings together academics, practitioners, and other stakeholders with a common interest in care homes research with the aim of strengthening research, policy, and practice in all areas of care homes research, including those related to staff, residents, family members and carers, as well as the home environment and its links with external organisations. We also aim to develop complementary working relationships with the other BSG SIGs, and other groups and organisations that support care homes research.
This blog is designed for sharing and discussing research on care homes and is open to both members and non-members of the Care Homes Research SIG. Anyone with an interest in care homes is welcome to write a post for the blog, including care home providers and staff, academics, health and social care professionals, residents, families and friends.
If you would like to join the Care Homes Research SIG, or author a blog post, please contact us at: [email protected] and check out our guidance on writing a blog post here.
We envisage that these blog posts will highlight and discuss issues relating to research in care homes, including:
- identifying practice issues needing research and an evidence base
- developing research methods for care homes research and sharing good research practice
- disseminating care homes research findings to a broad audience, including policy makers
- implementing research into practice
- setting the agenda for future care homes research and identifying knowledge gaps
- sharing information about ongoing research projects
- sharing information about care home events
We are looking forward to the sharing of ideas and highlighting good practice and research in care homes!
